THE ROLE OF SOFT POWER IN THE PRACTICE OF INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMACY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of soft power in modern international diplomatic practices, identify its forms of implementation in interstate relations, and explain its influence on enhancing a country's image and national interests in the era of globalization. The research employs a normative juridical method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The data used are qualitative data obtained through library research from various secondary sources, including books, scientific journals, academic articles, and official documents relevant to the research topic. The findings indicate that soft power plays a significant role in fostering more cooperative and peaceful international relations through persuasive approaches rather than coercive means. The implementation of soft power is carried out through cultural diplomacy, educational diplomacy, digital diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, and the promotion of political values and foreign policy initiatives. Furthermore, the development of globalization and digital technology has strengthened the effectiveness of soft power in building a positive national image and expanding global influence. The study also reveals that cultural diplomacy and digital diplomacy have become strategic instruments for enhancing international cooperation and strengthening a country's position in contemporary international relations. Therefore, the development of soft power is essential for states, including Indonesia, in addressing the dynamics of contemporary international relations.
